A night a magic star viewing in Asheville

Sometimes things are feeling a bit hum-drum and you need a bit of excitement.  Believe me when I tell you that's exactly what the folks at Star Watch Night Vision Tours plan to offer their guests with a night of magic star viewing in Asheville.  Last night, we were among the lucky few to be on the maiden tour.  What a blast.  We trekked off to Max Patch Bald in caravan with some awesome characters of a convivial nature and the conversation alone was worth the trip.  They provide transportation for their guests to the " location selection for the night" offering tour takers a relaxing chance to take in the breathtaking  sunset scenery Western North Carolina is known for.  Generally, a place is selected on the Parkway but it was having an issue or two so, ever the professionals, they sought out Plan B....Max Patch and what a plan it was!

After the beautiful ride to the selected site we all unloaded, gathered up some blankies, chairs, the night vision equipment, and even the kindly loaned hat for one of the tour takers who'd forgotten hers and off we went.  Now, for those of you not having knowledge of Max Patch Bald it is awe inspiringly beautiful.  Some of the party stopped off just a few feet from the parking lot, and sought their piece of heaven there.  Others of us continued on up to the top.  No matter though, the views are as awesome one place as the other.

We moved forward in ascent until we found our special place and camped.  Our able assistants and sure footed guides found a grassy spot, we all got comfortable there and then the magic commenced in earnest.  Now, though I served in the military my specialty area was not such that I had ever had "hands on" experience with night vision equipment.  It was a clear, unobstructed night and those glasses unfurled the glories of the universe just for us.  It was, quite simply, one of the best nights I have spent anywhere.  Planes, stars, the fingernail moon, satellites were ours and they were glorious.

So, if you are feeling a bit sluggish, confined, lacking in motivation, still have your winter funk in high gear...Give Dawn a call. She will help you FILL THE NIGHT WITH MAGIC. The guests at our B&B are a discerning crew and always on the lookout for the next big thing...They will not have to look further.
