I would be the last one to tell you that I have a fantastic sense of direction. I mean, I can say that I am able to find my way out of a paper bag effectively...but I was really not in expectation of your Asheville Bed and Breakfast Innkeepers Lost in Eliada's Annual Corn Maze. Corn Mazes have always intrigued me for an usual reason. I like the neatness of hay rolls adorning fields. Being a city girl this sight was not something I routinely saw and I just thought they looked very neat and orderly scattered about the fields.
Fast forward to the Eliada Annual Corn Maze. We went out there with friends and it was dark. Very dark. Just as a helpful hint....I think should I ever darken the door of the corn maze again I will choose a night with the full moon. It's so much easier to see yourself getting hopelessly lost with a bit of moonlight.
Anyway, we start into the corn maze and we are talking to each other bit by bit ...First one of us could not hear the others....then two of us were out of voice range...well, as you can see by the start of this, it wasn't too long until I was hoping for a St. Bernard to come and find us. Then I started hearing cricket noises and the girl with me says. "Is this the year of the cicada?" Paralyzed from that remark and the possible implication of one of those creatures emerging from the noises I was hearing (believing its origin to be cricket based), I redouble my efforts to locate the EXIT. This, I assure you was easier said than done. I did mention it was very dark didn't I and frankly, bugs and I are not on warm and fuzzy terms.
Oh, heck, Go...Live Dangerously....It's for charity for heaven's sake! The maze is open till October 30, 2011 this year and always looking to serve- I have taken the liberty of locating your full moon night. Wednesday, October 12, 2011. Trust me...It will help!
