Plant Restaurant in Asheville-Unique and Unexpected

Plant, one of Asheville's newer restaurant arrivals has eluded our lunch visitation efforts on more than one occasion but Plant Restaurant in Asheville-Unique and Unexpected. Now, Asheville is blessed with more than one choice for both vegetarians and vegans and all of them serve up food suitable for the soul of anyone enjoying their veggies and fine cuisine.  Plant is a great addition.
We escaped our Asheville Bed and Breakfast on a late Sunday afternoon and failed...then on a Monday and failed and finally-Eureka Friday came & we hit pay dirt.

One of our local papers had done a piece on Plant and mentioned their veggie burger so a thorough investigation of their menu proved interesting but unnecessary as our plan before even walking through the door was to split this behemoth for lunch.  It was a good plan.  That said, a soup special our young server was so kind to tell us about garnered my interest as well. It was a red lentil with curry.  It was superb.  We split that for starters.  Now, frankly this is billed as a bowl of soup and I would more have designated it a cup but either way-It was a glorious adventure.  Not for those that can't take a bit of heat but awesome and flavorful.

Ok, on to the burger.  Southern Living listed this fine creation in the top 10 veggie berger's in NC.  I completely agree.  It was fresh, hot, well seasoned and delectable served on Annie's ciabatta.  I'm not a vegetarian but plant has won my heart and there is not one doubt that some day when a plan of lunch escape is successfully launched At Cumberland Falls Bed and Breakfast Inn- our car will find its way to Plant with a new menu vision to explore.  Hope to see you there. You will not miss the chicken, the cow, the pig or other-I promise!

  2. Thanks Patti for the very nice review! We really appreciate it.
BTW, the Plant berger was included in the top ten best burgers in NC. The list included traditional burgers - Plant's berger was the only veg burger on the list!.
