Theatre in Asheville, Montford Park Players
We are always amazed, even after having lived here all these years, at the diversity and opportunity to enjoy live theatre in Asheville and Montford Park Players are one of our most valuable resources.
The main thrust of this group of thespians is to offer to our lucky community and surrounding areas an opportunity for exposure to the glory of Wm. Shakespeare and other classical theatrical works.
Our B&B in Asheville is so appreciative to be able to offer this awesome entertainment option to our guests. The outdoor amphitheater is blocks from our inn and in 2014 a huge expansion will break ground bringing to life the dreams of many volunteers who have worked tirelessly with this group for many, many years. Hazel Robinson, our next door neighbor, decided in 1973 that Asheville could benefit from its very own Shakespearean company and she worked diligently toward that end founding the Montford Park Players.
While customarily offering free performances as the Hazel Robinson Amphitheartre, the holiday performances of Charles Dickens's, A Christmas Carol will be held in the Masonic Temple in downtown Asheville 80 Broadway Street Asheville NC. This production celebrates the 200th year of Dickens's birth. Performances are began December 6 and will continue through December 23, 2012. Evening performances at 7:30 p.m. Thursday-Saturday.
Afternoon matinees: Sat-Sun only at 2:30p.m. Tickets are $12-15 contingent upon where you sit.
Youth tickets are slightly less.
We are planning to go so I will update on this blog later.
