Tupelo Honey Cafe

Part of the fun of hosting visitors to our city is the joy of directing them to dining locations that really fit them personally. Each guest is seeking a different experience.  Some, are very uber-cuisine and are searching out the most elegant, formal place in which to enjoy their meal with their eyes on innovative cuisine, artfully presented and sophisticated in delivery to mark a special celebration in their lives.

Many more are looking for a homey experience and Asheville delivers that in spades.  One of the more popular of those experiences would be our Tupelo Honey located downtown.  Locals eat here and more than a few visitors find their way there too.  We were here before Tupelo Honey Cafe, arriving in 1999- but not by much.  They opened their doors to their downtown location in 2000 and though the original owner has moved on the new owner continues the farm to table traditions that put this place on the map.

If you are of the mind to find some comfort food, expertly prepared using local ingredients in a homey but well kept atmosphere find your way to this charming cafe.  Frankly, as anyone in the service industry knows the food is important but the greeting is fundamental.  They get that premise at Tupelo Honey Cafe.
Some innkeeper and guest favorite menu over our near 14 year experience with this dining draw would include: (but would not be limited to)

Low Country Shrimp, Eggs Crawley (a spectacular take on the traditional Eggs Benedict using Crab cakes rather than Canadian bacon), trout, biscuits with fresh blackberry jam/honey side-starter, Fried chicken BLT, Sweet Potato pancakes and the greens take on an entirely different dimension.

These folks will open their 5 restaurant by then end of 2013 and their eyes are fastened on several other future locations.  It might even be that one of them will be in your neck of the woods.  They might take their wares far and wide but we had them first and only wish them well.
